All level's of RPGer's are welcome but we expect you to do your best. No text talk, proper grammer must be used, as little spelling errors as possble, and posts must be atleast TWO good paragraphs. So about 8 to 10 sentences is good. Of course you don't always have to follow this rule, for like forms and stuff (X
Out Of Character violance and fighting is not tolerated.
Light cussing is alright in moderation.

CANNOT CREATE A MUSTANG. If you want to get a mustang, you must adopt one.
The colors you pick for the horse that you create must be realistic and true for the breed. For example; no leopard spotted Thoroughbred's with a purple mane and lime green tail....like really guys? ha.
The following colors and markings/patterns can not come on created horses. To get these colors you must breed for them with the right mare and stallion. They do exist, you just have to work to get them (:
Body colors not allowed on created horses:
Cremello
Perlino
Albino
Markings not allowed:
Badger Face
Brindle
Bend or
Birdcatcher spots
Patterns not allowed:
Pintaloosa
Tovero
So as you will see when you create your horse, there is a message towards the end of the form. Read it :b Don't fill out anything under that part because an admin will finish it for you.
You will see a part that says homozygous. If the horse is black based, grey or dilute then theres a chance it may be homozygous (it will be choosen randomly). If a horse is black based and homozygus, then all of it's offspring will be black based. Same for greys and dilutes.
The natural skills for Jumping, dressage and cross country will also be choosen randomly from an admin. They will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10.
1= super poor........10=HOLY.FREAKIN.AMAZING.
The natural skills will always remain the same, and can never change. They will affect the horses performance in showes and also affect the horse's offspring.
The horses breed is taken into consideration when it recieves it's scores. Like for example; a Shire would get a lower score in jumping than a Thoroughbred would.
Special Traits-
Occasionally, a horse may have a special trait.
A special trait may help the horse in competions and training.
A horse with a special trait may give that trait to it's offspring.
It's rare, but sometimes a horse can have more then one special trait.
The special traits are:
Surefooted: The horse is less prone to stumbling and is very agile.
Endurance: The horse has the ability to run for a longer period of time.
Speed: Horse can sprint short distances with great speed.
Scope: Horse can clear jumps with nice form.
Brave: The horse is less likey to spook and more willing to perform in stressful situations.
Big Stride: Big strided horses can cover larger amounts of ground using less engery. Also useful in dressage.
Willing: Horse listens to it's rider carefully.
Honest: Honest horses will not over jump, using less energy.
Presence: This kind of horse has something about it that makes it stand out, very attention getting.
Serious Confromation Fault-
Are the same as Special Traits, only effect the horse negitivily in shows and in training. They can also cause the horse to become injured or lame.
List of Serious Conformation Faults:
Thick Crest: Often seen in pony and draft breeds, a thick crest puts more weight on the forehand.
Ewe Neck: Lacks the normal neck arch, makes it difficult to controll the horse and collect it.
Slab Sided: Flat ribs, limiting lung capacity. Horse will have less muscular power aswell.
Hollow Back: Horse has a boney back, lacking muscle and fat. Causing high head carriage and overall stiffness.
Cat Hammered: Horse has long thighs and gaskins with little muscling. This will cause the horse to have less power and speed.
Camped Out: Horse's hind leg's don't follow a straight line under the horses hip, causing the horse poor collection and being strung out over jumps.
Post Legs: Little angle to the horse's ankels and stiffles, put's strain on the horses legs and can make a more jarring ride.
Base Narrow: Hooves close together can cause the horse to trip and stumble.
Down Hill: The horse's withers are lower then it's hips. Causes horse to have shorter stride, restricted shoulder movement, and more weight is placed on the forehand.
Serious Confromational Faults doesn't mean the horse will do terrible in shows, it can affect them.
**Special Traits and Serious Confromation Faults can show up in foals from parents who don't have any since it can be passed down from older "generations".
Stable-
So all horses live at Rosemount Stables.
Don't forget to RP care for your horses at the stable. If you fail to do so, then they can be taken away from you and placed for adoption.
There is a mystery to be solved at the stable. Solve it and....well you'll just find out (:
Aging-
All horses and humans age a year per month.
Mares are typically sexually mature at 3 and stallions at 2yrs. However, it's up to the horse's owner to decide at what age to breed. There are risks to breeding at young ages.
Horses don't die at a certain age. One might die at 19 years whereas another could die at 30. When a horse dies it will be announced on The Rainbow Bridge board.
Showing-
Different types of showes are held at different times and there are different awards (money or points).
Typically, the horse with the highest score in the event will place highest, however, this is not always the case. Just like in real life, some of the best horses have bad days at showes and so a horse with a lower score COULD place above a horse with a higher score, but it is rare.
Local Showing-
A local show will be held every month.
Anyone can show as many horses as they want in the events.
Each horse will be awarded points if they placed between 1st through 5th. The points list for local showes is below:
1st-10
2nd-8
3rd-6
4th-3
5th-1
The classes offered at showes are:
Inhand (ONLY for horse's that are under 2 years of age)
Dressage
Jumping
Crosscountry
The fee to enter a local show is $5 per class/horse.
Regional Show-
Regional show will be held every three months.
The class fee per horse/class is $35
The points system goes like this:
Champion: 20pts + $8,000
R. Champion: 15 pts + $6,000
3rd: 10 pts + $ 3,000
4th: 5 pts+ $2,000
5th: 3 pts + $1,000
World Show-
The world show will be held every 6 months.
You must qualify to go to the world show, and your horse must have at least 20 points already to compete. For inhand youngsters, they must have at least 2 points.
The show fee per class/horse is $150
World show points as follows:
Champion: 40 points +$15,000
R. Champion: 35 pts + $10,000
3rd: 25pts + $5,000
4th: 20pts + $3,000
5th: 15 pts + $2,000
Horse that is entered in all events (Dressage, Jumping, and Cross Country) that earns the highest amount of total points accumalated wins the coveted title of WORLD TOP ALL AROUND HORSE and will win an additional 100 Points and the owner will win an extra $150,000.
Trainers-
To become a trainer, you must win atleast 5 first places at any level of show.
To get a trainer's license, you must pay a fee of $9,500
Trainers can enhance a horse's natural stats over time. The stat that becomes enhanced will be random, and it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a month for the stats to become enhanced.
When a horse's stats begin to enhance, the new enhanced stat will turn green on the database page.
Inorder for the stats to enhance, the trainer must acually roleplay working with the horse.
Stallions-
Alright, so that there aren't just a bunch of random studs out there, you cannot create a horse that is a stallion. You either can pick from a mare OR a gelding. NO stallions can be created.
You must do some work inorder to own, show and train stallions too. You must pay a fee of $150 to take a test. If you pass the test, you will get a Stallion Handlers License. You can then legally manage, train, show and own stallions.
If you fail the test, you can retake the test again a week later and pay the test fee again. But really, it's not that hard (: You must get a score of atleast 70% on the test to pass.
Breeding-
Please be respectful of other members who may be offended by graphic breeding. If you post graphic pictures or comments with your breeding form, the thread will be removed and depending on severity you could be banned for 7 days or permanetly banned. When breeding horses you do have have to role play anything. Just post the stallions and mares stats, thats it.
You do not need a stallion license to breed your mare to another player's stallion.
If your mare has a colt and you do not have a stallion license, you must sell it or have a vet geld it by the time it turns 3 years old. Or it will be taken away from you.
Mares are preggo for two to three real weeks. When they foal, a breeding manager will post it's stats and you must post them to the database or the foal won't exist. However, some foals may be born earlier then 2wks, this may cause injuries to mare or foal.
The foal's color will be determined by this website: www.horsetesting.com/CCalculator1.asp
Cross breeding is ALLOWED.
Horses can be bred Artificially. At the breeding shed. A stallion can be collected every week for $1500. In one collection, he will produce two straws. Enough to make two mares pregnant. The stallion owner has the option to store them for later use, even after the stallion dies, the owner can also sell the straws to the public or use them on their own mares.
A.I. or Live?
Live breedings have a higher chance of the mare getting pregnant, but both horses are put at risk for injury. The mare or stallion can contract dieseases through live breeding. A stallion can even kill a mare during live breeding.
A.I. is the safest way to breed horses. There is NO risk for injury, death, or contracting a diesease but the chances of the mare getting pregnant are slimmer.
If a mare doesn't get pregnant after three failed breedings she is considered unbreedable. Some horses may be unbreedable.
Foals can be sold at one year and can start saddle training whenever the owner chooses to begin training. Training at a very young age can cause injuries or lameness.
Wild Horses-
Every two months, a group of wild horses will be brought in for adoption.
The adoption fee for all wilds is $800.
The wilds will be up for adoption for two real weeks, and any not clamied by a new owner will be returned to the wild and will never be captured again.
Stallions captured over 3 years old will automaticly be gelded before they can be claimed for adoption. Stallions under 3 years will be sold as a stallion.
If you adopt a wild horse YOU MUST role play them WILD and role play taming them and training them.
Trainers have more power to train wilds.
Riders can pay trainers to tame and break their wild horse. Try looking on the classifieds board for trainers that are willing to train other riders horses.
Injuries and Lameness-
Each monday when the surprise and diaster is posted, so will a "record" of injuries and lamenesses this week.
Injuries and lamenesses can be caused from breeding, riding, showing, and accidental. Some horses may be more accient or injury prone then other horses.
When horses are transported to shows, this also puts them at a risk for trailer injuries and accidents.
Riding, breeding, training horses at a very young age are more likely to get injured or become lame. This can also affect them later in life as well.
Horses with serious confromation faults are more likely to become lame when in high impact riding, training or showing.
Thank-you for reading. The rules above are subject to change, and I will alert all members when a rule is changed.
REMEMBER Under a Dixie Sun Is a role playing/simulation game. Nothing is real. Jobs, horses, money, stables, people are made up/imaginary characters for game play only.
ANOTHER REMINDER There are many types of people on the internet. You cannot always trust them. Do not give out personal information such as your real name, your location or any other identifing information. It is your own responsibiliaty to protect your self when on Under a Dixie Sun or any other website on the internet. Thanks!
