Peyton sat on a green and yellow fence set up across the diagonal of the ring. She had come early to set the jumps for the clinic. She was expecting two riders. Erika, she'd heard she was a great rider, and had a great horse as well. Charlotte Evans.. She'd been told that girl was a brat, but she was a good little jumper. Peyton hoped she was coachable, if not this was going to be horrible. But let's focus on the positives. It was 8am. She was in an indoor ring. And she was doing what she loved, which is anything involving horses. Peyton tugged her sweatshirt closer to her and stood on her tiptoes out of the gate. Was that a rider? Yep. It was. (OOC: HOW THIS IS GONNA WORK. Your first post is warm up, when you're done with that line up in the middle. Remember, no one's perfect as well. Okay, this is the course that's set up. After my second post, I will post this with a line showing where you have to go. All jumps are currently set at 2'3". Any questions PM me)

Erika backed Waff out of the trailer and tied him to one side. She shivered a little at the cold, then brushed the stallion off and tossed her show saddle to his back. She slipped a pelham into his mouth and pulled her GPA over her hair. Erika turned him away from the trailer and headed down to the indoor arena. She swung up to his back halfway there and continued walking.
She entered the arena and nodded to Peyton. The first one there? Fantastic. Carefully, Erika took up contact on her curb rein in addition to the snaffle and asked for a trot. With Waff, it was best to distract him from the addition of curb pressure. He hated it when first applied, then didn't mind at all. Erika liked the extra control.
After a few laps at trot, circling around the jumps and weaving in between them, Erika cued for a canter. She elevated her hands to compensate for Waff's higher head in this gait and sank her weight into her heels. Horse and rider moved smoothly around the perimeter of the arena. Erika turned Waff down the short diagonal and did a lead change, then continued around the arena in the opposite direction for a few laps.
When Waff was good and warmed up, Erika tugged him back to a trot, then a walk. She guided him into center ring and halted, waiting for further instruction.

Charlotte was not late. Just a few minutes behind Erika, who she remembered from a ride earlier in the week. She had little Tokyo in tow. Charlotte ended up mounting right after the older girl, and they both warmed up separately. Charlie navigated her pony around the larger pair and succeeded at staying out of their way. She walked for a bit, at least once in each direction, and then asked for a trot. The pony was overly excited at being in a new place, and was starting to get too antsy. Once they had completed a couple serpentines, Charlie asked for a canter. The pony didn't hesitate to go at a faster speed, and Charlotte had to sit back a little to stop her from moving too quickly. The blond turned the pony up the diagonal and asked for a lead change at X. Tokyo did so. Satisfied with their little warm up, Charlotte walked behind Erika to the center of the ring and stood confidently in front of Peyton.

Catie backed Blue out of the trailer. She had really wanted to ride English and this was her chance. Blue had always been and all arounder, and Catie had had english lessons as a kid. She through her brand new Stubben atop Blue and slipped the bit in her mouth. She hopped on top of her and went to the arena. She warmed the Paint up, whick wasn't hard to do, and brought her to middle, sitting confidently in her shiny new saddle she'd been saving up for forever. This was her chance to show Charlie she was just as good, not that it wasn't all competition.

Peyton turned to the other girl entering the ring. She obviously had a puzzled look, only two were supposed to come and they were here. "I'm sorry, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. This is a private clinic, and these riders reserved their spots." She felt genuinely sorry, and hoped the girl could see it.
(OOC: I'll add more tomorrow or Saturday, please don't post until then)

"OK," Catie made a weak smile and stepped out of the arena, "bye everyone."

"Okay. Looks like we have everyone." Peyton took a crumpled piece of paper out of her sweatshirt pocket. "Uh, we are going to start with just the simple vertical in the corner over there. It has a few distracting features, so make sure you add leg pressure if you feel your horse running out." Peyton pointed at the small red and blue paneled jump."It's only about 2'3"ish. Charlotte, that's a good war up for Tokyo, but Erika, try and see if Waff will jump it. Not just step over it." Peyton looked mostly at Charlotte now. "If your horse is still excited about everything going on, make sure you sit back and maybe perform a half halt once you leave the rail." Peyton really hoped she was doing okay. It didn't seem like it, honestly.

Erika nodded, then glanced over to Charlotte. It looked like she was going first. She asked Waff for a walk and bumped his mouth on the snaffle rein, asking for a little more collection. If he jumped from anything faster than a slow canter - maybe even a hunter lope - Waff was prone to being lazy over small jumps. She applied outside leg and felt herself lifted out of the saddle when Waff rocked into a canter.
Erika barely touched her curb rein, reminding her stallion that he needed to rock back on his hindquarters. They proceeded at a very uphill canter around the corner, until Erika turned toward the vertical. Waff jerked his head, eager to get over the fence, but Erika sat back in the saddle, her back inclined ever so slightly, and kept him restrained until they were a stride away. At this point, Erika gave him a little more rein and let Waff jump. He was a little overexcited, as this was the first jump of the day and it was a distracting jump at that, and so Waff took off at a long spot. Erika gripped with her knees through the big jump, bigger than she had expected. It was horrible equitation, but at twenty-three, Erika wasn't eligible for the big eq championships and she didn't care much anymore.
Four strides after the fence, Erika broke Waff down to a trot and resumed her place in line.

Charlotte watched the bay canter toward the jump; her head was bobbing with every stride. They made a great pair, Erika and Waff.
Now it was her turn. The eleven year old cued a left lead canter from where she was standing and let the buckskin pick up a steady canter. She wasn't rushing much, which was good. They rounded the bend and Charlie decided to skip the half halt because of the pony's even pace. But once she saw the jump, the pony urged forward, only to be brought back down by Charlotte leaning back shoving her heels down even more.
One, two, up! The girl rose into two point and let her pony have more head by giving her an auto release. They landed at a quick canter, but Charlie pulled her back to a walk in four strides.
